In honor of Independence Day this weekend, our #PlantoftheMonth is the Firecracker Penstemon, a drought-tolerant perennial, native to the mountains of the southwest desert. These plants are beautiful tucked into a xeriscape or used as a border; the bright orange-red tubular flowers entice hummingbirds and butterflies to visit.
